Los Luchadores

I did these illustrations with Corel Draw in 2010, to prepare for a series of paintings.
I had the idea to create some promotional posters of Luchadores like they do in Mexico,
but using masked wrestlers of my own creation.

Luchadores compete in Mexico's version of pro wrestling, called Lucha Libre, where the mask
has a special, symbolic reverance. Although the outcome is just as scripted, the matches
themselves are a more high-flying, acrobatic, and chaotic affair.

In the top row are the technicos, or good guys, and in the bottom row are the rudos, or bad guys.
After I did these, I also gave a try at creating posters for some fictional female wrestlers as well.
