I was born in Washington, D.C. in 1973, and spent the next
18 years growing up in Alexandria, Virginia.

After I graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1991,
I moved to Alvin, Texas. There I attended Alvin Community College
to study art, and at the same time I also started working
for JM Specialties, a small screen printing business in town.

After a few years I returned to Alexandria, and joined
my father's business, Hilmers Studios. Although we specialized
in patent drafting, we also occasionally did advertising art,
and web page design among other things.

In 2015, I moved to Raahe, Finland after getting married
to a wonderful Finnish woman.

Over the years I have been doing my own artwork,
which mainly consists of digital illustration, but also includes painting, sculpture, paper art, and most recently, woodburning.
